A total of 26 patients have been successfully repaired, the overall success rate was 18/24 which is 75%. Unfortunately, one patient died in Kwara. All patients were discharged successfully and are still being followed up. Some that were not dry have been rescheduled for repeat surgeries.

Proposed Activities:

1.           To expand the collaboration with the National VVF centers and other NGOs. (The Medical Directors of the two of the three National VVF centers in Katsina and Ningi are our members).

2.           To widen our scope of activities to include prevention since IMA- Nigeria now hosts the FIMA Save Dignity committee.

3.           To look for funding for community outreaches in areas with large number of VVF patients with a view of community sensitization on prevention of VVF. The funding will also be for routine repairs, VVF camps and rehabilitation of these patients after repairs. (Skill acquisition and empowerment).

Jazakumullahu khairan for supporting the restoration of the dignity of our women.

Your Faithfully.

Prof. Hajaratu Umar Sulayman
